On October 21, Keuka College Academic Vice President and Provost Dr. Paul Forestell, Senior Director for Global Academic Initiative Dr. Bill Myers, Administrative Chancellor for China Campuses, Keuka China Programs, Keuka College, Dr. Joseph Hwang and Director of Keuka China Programs (Xiamen Office) Ms. Lily Liu visited our university to discuss matters relating to expansion of the Sino-American academic cooperation program. Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) Vice President Prof. Yin Hong presided over the meeting with the Keuka College representatives.

Vice President Yin Hong gave a warm welcome to the representatives from Keuka College and made a few suggestions regarding how to better facilitate cooperation between the two institutions.  He stated that the two institutions have been working with each other for fifteen years now and have trained more than four-thousand graduates, and thus it would be advantageous to create an alumni association composed of those graduates. Such an association would not only promote exchange between Keuka and YUFE - thus expanding the programs influence - but it would also aid in resource consolidation between the alumni. Vice President Yin also hoped that Keuka would add introductory courses in global economics, politics and international relations in the hopes that it may broaden the students’ horizons. Vice President Yin ended with thanking the Keuka College professors for their fifteen years of teaching.

Dr. Paul Forestell proposed expanding cooperation in the areas of tourism management, environmental science, social sciences and economics. In response to Vice President Yins suggestions, Dr. Forestell stated that he believes that creating an alumni association would be a great idea and that he would look further into developing one. As for the new courses, Keuka is currently researching how best to teach them. He also expressed the hope for exchange of students and teachers of the institutions would continue to be promoted. Dr. Bill Myers suggested sending Keuka professors to our school to teach on the subjects of modern economics and politics.

The representatives of both institutions stated that they believed that they should forthwith continue to work closely so as to better develop projects which are amenable to modern global trends and that they would continue to expand and improve the quality of education together.

Vice Dean Pan Xuedong of the International School of Business, Prof. Wang Rongdang of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, and Vice President Prof. Qian Zeng also attended the meeting and discussion.
