The 2018 graduation ceremony for graduates of Sino-U.S. academic cooperation program was successfully held at Jimei University.

On the morning of June 17, the 2018 graduation ceremony of cooperation program between Keuka College, U.S.A. and Jimei University, P.R.C. was held at the Shangda Building at Jimei University. Dr. Jorge L. Diaz-Herrera, President of Keuka College, Dr. Joseph Hwang, Administrative Chancellor for Keuka China Programs at China Campuses, Dr. Michael Hwang, Keuka College Professor of Career Management and Experiential Learning and Emeritus Administrative Chancellor for Keuka China Programs at China Campuses, Prof. Gary Giss, Director of International Programs – Asia, Prof. Cao Mingjie, Vice President of Jimei University, leaders and faculty of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Overseas Education College and Chengyi University College, Jimei University, Keuka College faculty and the 2018 Keuka China Programs graduates as well as their parents attended the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chen Tongwen, Vice Dean of the Overseas Education College, Jimei University.
The graduation ceremony started with the solemn playing of the national anthems of China and the United States.
Prof. Cao Mingjie, on behalf of Jimei University, expressed his highest respect to all leadership, teachers who travelled all the way from America and extended his warm congratulations to all 2018 Keuka China Programs graduates for their academic fulfillment. He gave thanks to all the teachers and parents who have supported the students along the way. He applauded what they had achieved on academic study, employment and further education, hoping that students in this new starting point of their life will remember the motto of "Cheng Yi (honesty and perseverance)" of Jimei University, to learn merits from instructions by both Chinese and U.S. universities and to work hard and use their wisdom to realize their own potential in life.
Dr. Jorge L. Diaz-Herrera, President of Keuka College, delivered his commencement speech. He stated that it was a great honor for him to attend the 2018 graduation (the 110th Keuka College, U.S. commencement). He offered his congratulations to all of the Keuka China Programs graduates, and expressed sincere thanks to all the colleagues from Keuka College’s Chinese partner universities. He also expressed his thanks to Dr. Michael Hwang for bringing Keuka College’s Career Management and Experiential Learning course program to the Keuka China Programs. He said that commencement represents an end, a new beginning and a continuity. He hoped that all students can make full use of their degree and painstakingly acquired knowledge, experience and talent so that they can make contributions for their society, their family, their country and even the whole world, and bring honor to Jimei University and Keuka College
Dr. Joseph Hwang provided his remarks on “New Hope, New Dreams and New Future.” He shared with the graduates the challenges that the new economic times will bring. And he hoped that they will persist in lifelong learning, and maintain a positive and hopeful attitude as they set their goals in life.
Dr. Michael Hwang presided over the awards ceremony for the “2018 Keuka China Programs Highest GPA Valedictorian Award” and 2018 Keuka China Programs Outstanding Alumni Award.” This year, the Keuka China Programs Highest GPA award went to Jimei University, Overseas Education College student Zhang Lintong. Dr. Diaz-Herrera presented her with the “Golden Key Award.” To date, there have been 12 recipients of the “Golden Key Award,” of those 12 recipients, nine have been graduates from Jimei University. Dr. Diaz-Herrera also presented awards to three outstanding Keuka China Programs alumni, Chen Ziya, Li Sixian and Chen Zhen.
At the ceremony, awards were also presented by Keuka College to Dean Sun Fuming of Jimei University, Overseas Education College for his tireless dedication and contribution to the Keuka China Programs. Keuka College presented Dean Sun with the Golden Eagle Award. Thereafter Prof. Ye Guanghuang and Prof. Sun Fuming share their challenges and rewards in their participation in Keuka China Programs.
Li Yanlin and Kong Linshui, graduate representatives from Overseas Education College, Jimei University, and Wong Qingyang, graduate representative from Chengyi University College, Jimei University, delivered speeches at the ceremony on behalf of all the graduates. They emotionally recalled what they have experienced in their four years of college life, expressed their gratitude to the leadership and teachers of two universities as well as their families and friends. They not only showed their fondness for classmates but also their trust and confidence in future life. They expressed that the Keuka China Programs opened a new world for them and it is because of the Keuka China Programs that they found their new destination and direction.
