The 2018 graduation ceremony of the Keuka China Programs Sino-foreign academic cooperation program was successfully held at Jimei University.

On the morning of June 17, the 2018 graduation ceremony of the Keuka China Programs cooperation program between Keuka College and Jimei University was held at the 105 auditorium of Shangda Building at Jimei University. Dr. Jorge L. Diaz-Herrera, President of Keuka College, Dr. Joseph Hwang, Administrative Chancellor for Keuka China Programs at China Campuses, Dr. Michael Hwang, Emeritus Administrative Chancellor for Keuka China Programs at China Campuses, Prof. Gary Giss, Director of International Programs - Asia, Prof. Gu Jiande, former President of Jimei University, Prof. Cao Mingjie, Vice President of Jimei University, Prof. Ye Guanghuang, President of Chengyi University College, Jimei University, Prof. Huang Yishing, Vice President of Chengyi University College, Jimei University, faculty members of international exchange department, Keuka College faculty, Keuka China Programs outstanding alumni, and 32 Chengyi University College, Jimei University 2018 graduates as well as their parents attended the graduation ceremony.
At the graduation ceremony, both Chinese and foreign leaders and student representatives delivered speeches respectively. The ceremony was a wonderful event, and the atmosphere was warm and touching. Dr. Michael Hwang presented Ms. Chen Zhen a graduate from the first Keuka China Programs cooperation program with Chengyi University College, Jimei University, with the “2018 Keuka China Programs Outstanding Alumni Award.” President Diaz-Herrera presented the Keuka College diplomas to the graduates, and moved the tassel for the graduates to represent their graduation. Prof. Giss presented the Academic Excellence Awards and placed green sashes to the recipient graduates and Dr. Joseph Hwang presented the Career Management and Experiential Learning Excellence Awards to the recipient graduates and placed on them the yellow sashes. The graduates and many along with their parents walked onto the stage for a photo and lasting memory.
Prof. Ye Guanghuang, who was the previously the Dean of the Overseas Education College, Jimei University, stated at the graduation ceremony that this is a special ceremony because we are sending off the last Keuka China Programs graduates from Chengyi University College, Jimei University. He recalled the ups and downs and challenges faced by the administrative leaders and faculty from both Keuka College and Jimei University at the early stages of the cooperation program. He also mentioned that due to all the hard work the cooperation program has become an exceptional academic cooperation program and sent on his special blessing for the 2018 Keuka China Programs graduates.
The aim of the Sino-foreign academic cooperation program is to expand the students’ international vision and to enhance their employment ability. In 2003, the Jimei University, P.R.C. and Keuka College, U.S.A. cooperation was approved by the Academic Degree Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. And the cooperation program brings advanced educational principles and recourses from abroad. At Chengyi University College, Jimei University, there were two in demand majors by students which are business management and accounting. Fifteen of the courses are delivered by Keuka College professors using the original English instruction materials and applying the same instruction methods as those used at the U.S. home campus. This allowed the students in the program to study abroad without leaving China. Up until June 2018, Chengyi University College, Jimei University has 2,048 Keuka China Programs graduates. The graduates from the Keuka China Programs have demonstrated to have good solid foundations, good English language skills, and are sought out by leading foreign and Chinese companies. This shows the strength of the education and training provided by the Sino-foreign academic cooperation program.
