It is the first week we have classes in the United States. The classes are not as easy as they are in domestic universities. Besides the professional knowledge, language is the biggest barrier for me. The professors speak very fast with much slang. In case I am distracted even for short moments, I will fall behind.
I had my first quiz this week. There were ten true or false questions. When I was working on the problems, I thought all of statements were true. But I began to doubt how it could be. So I changed an answer from ‘true’ to ‘false’. Afterwards, the professor announced that all of the statements were ‘true’ which amazed everyone in class. The instructor said we should believe in ourselves. If we have reviewed the lessons, we must be fully confident of the answers. An unforgettable exam!
American students often have many kinds of work study jobs, which are different from part time jobs. Because for work study, you can not work so many hours a week as part time jobs. Fortunately, I found a work study job on campus. My position is the desk worker in the residence hall. I am so excited. But in fact, it is not easy to work in the United States as there are many procedures to go through. Before I can work, I must apply for the social security number. It is much like the Identification in China.
This Wednesday, the president Burke treated us to Chinese dinner in the town. It was a cozy restaurant. We ate a lot of delicious Chinese food with chopsticks. We were so excited. It was a feeling of back home.
