First week in Keuka College

After the first transition week, all of the Chinese students become acquainted with Keuka College. In the course of orientation, we were introduced to the location of residence halls, cafeteria, library, teaching buildings and also the courses we would take. There is a new method of learning here, “Moodle”. It is a new word for me, representing all the material the professors provide students in Keuka website. Adapting to the American lifestyle gradually, I am prepared for the beginning of a new term.
Classes begin this week! Most of Chinese students have four courses this semester. Compared to the courses we attended in English instructed by foreign teachers in China, the teaching approaches in American classes are more flexible. Instead of sitting in the chairs and taking notes, we are supposed to be more involved in the classes. When you have questions or new ideas, just freeze the professors and speak up your opinions. Class discussions, teamwork and group projects make the learning process funny and diverse.
Unlike other American universities where there are plenty of Chinese students,
it is a genuine English environment in Keuka College. In addition, the surrounding
environment here is so gorgeous and peaceful that I can concentrate on my study.
A good beginning is half done. It reminds me of a song:
“Let’s start from here,
Lose the past,
Change our minds,
We don’t need a finish line.
Let’s take this chance,
Don’t think too deep,
Of all those promises we couldn’t seem to keep,
I dont care where we go,
Lets start from here.”
