Overseas Education College and Chenyi College of Jimei University Held The 2010 Keuka Sino-Us Cooperatively-run Schools Graduation Ceremony

In the morning of June 26th and 27th, 2010, the Cooperatively-run Schools Graduation Ceremony of JMU and Keuka College is held in the Theater of JMU Chenyi College. The Ceremony is held in two places: one is in the Overseas Education College and the other, in Chenyi College.
Dr. Joseph Burke, president of Keuka College, Fangzhao Gu, the Secretary of the CPC of JMU, Wenjin Su, president of JMU, and Dr. Michael T.C. Hwang, vice-president and Director of Keuka China Programs, Dr. Gary Smith, vice-president of Keuka College, Dr. Anne Weed, vice-president of Keuka College as well as the related departments of the Overseas Education College and Chenyi College of JMU together with the whole students and the parents attend the ceremony.
The ceremony begins in the Sino-US solemn national anthem. Fangzhao Gu ,the Secretary of the CPC of JMU and president Wenjin Su make speeches on behalf of Chinese part , congratulate to all the graduates of 2010 ,express thanks to the leaders of Keuka College and delegates who Specially came China to take part in the Ceremony, and condolence to the foreign teachers. They hope that the students should apply what they have learnt to good use, and lay the road to the future with diligence and wisdom.
Dr. Joseph Burke, president of Keuka College makes speeches on behalf of the American part. He briefly reviews the development of Keuka College and hopes that the graduates could serve the society with their knowledge, remember their goals in life and the concept of lifelong learning and realize their dreams in working, and through these to making outstanding contributions to them, and even China and the world!
Dr. Michael T.C. Hwang, vice-president of Keuka College, recalls the 8 years’ cooperation of JMU and Keuka College, expresses appreciation to the leaders of JMU for their great supports and all the staffs of the Overseas Education College for the hard work.
Leaders of Keuka College award Diploma to the graduates, and academic excellence prize and the excellent experiential learning and career management prize for the graduates. Because of the first three graduates of the overseas institutions get champion for three consecutive years in China part, Keuka College awards the three-consecutive-"Special Award" to JMU, and invites Secretary Fangzhao Gu to receive the medals. Xiaorong Xiao and other 7 alumni are awarded “Outstanding Alumni” titles.
The graduate representative: Xiaolu Yang, Yang Yang, Ye Wei and Jishu Fu make speech in both English and Chinese. They say that the harvest of four-year project studying is great and they sincerely thanks to the leaders and teachers for their efforts, and said that they want to be not only the ambitious and pragmatic person, but also integrity and innovative one.
The ceremony ends in the loud and clear school song of JMU and Keuka College. After that, leaders of China and the American college kindly take photos with the graduates.
The Cooperative Education Project of JMU and Keuka College is the first one in Fujian Province that authorized by the Degree Office of the State Department.Since the enrollment began in September 2003, there have been 1790 students of this project so far, among which, 915 is in the Overseas Education College, 875 in Chenyi College. At present, 1347 graduates have been brought up. There are 451 graduates this year, including 202 in the Overseas Education College and 249 in Chenyi College.
There are two professions in this project: business administration and international accounting. After finishing all the credit courses and passing the examinations, students could receive Bachelor of Management of Keuka College, USA.
The unique teaching philosophy "Career Planning" and "experience education" of Keuka College, together with the whole four years of practical work of experience education, help the students overcome the weak points of "no work experience with academic qualifications". Graduates of the project are in good employment condition, with employment rate of 98%. Except for some students going abroad for further studies, most of the students enter into the enterprises who have won wide acclaim because of their broad international outlook, good command of English and solid professional foundation.
